New song to learn on the guitar

I love to play. I'm a much better singer, but it's nice to have a compliment for that talent.

I really wanna get some stuff rolling again; I used to record my own songs about 2 years ago, but have kinda dropped it when I started taking college classes in high school. But now that I'm gradumakated, I hope to start recording stuff and doing some YouTube videos and hopefully get some recognition. I don't want anything big, but it'd be fun to do some small gigs in college and whatnot.

Currently, I'm working these songs out both guitar-ically and vocally:

The problem with me is that I'm self taught. About 8 years or so. But I haven't gotten much better lately. I've picked up a lot of bad habits along the way, so picking and playing stuff fast (other than chords) is very difficult for me. I also don't have finger nails, which is another problem. But, I'll take what I have, because at least it's something. Anyways, I'm more of an acoustic player, to compliment my voice when it's just me and guitar, so that's where I shine. I'm pretty good with that.

If you want help with Title and Registration, let me know. I play that song weekly.

Dude 56013,

Its definitly going to get easier in college. I'm in college right now and played in high school and the free time is still pretty limited, just make the time for it! :) Just try to watch other people's covers to learn the good and bad habits. Thats what I do, just go on youtube and watch other people to see what sounds good and what doesn't and then go from there.

I take it you are playing the lead correct?

Sweet song.

I play but not as much as I should.

Yeah. I can't read music or anything (well, used to for piano, but would have no clue on guitar...), so I play by ear and use tabs. However, if it's a very advanced tab, I can't pick it up quickly--or sometimes at all. So, recently, I've started doing some YouTube browsing. I've always like Dead or Alive by Bon Jovi, and I've picked up the intro rather quickly by watching the YT videos on it! I'm definitely a visual/hands-on learner.

That's not a very good thing. Start practicing by ear. Play chords and listen to the key differences between them. Focus on the minor and major scales first.
