Haven't heard much about battery life....beyond that, they seem to be quite reputable, but I've never read up on them in depth.

But they are overrated?
I'm not a fanboy of Windows
And nor do I dislike Mac
But from what I've seen, you can get a setup that out performs a mac for a lower price

Macbooks price to performance ratio isn't all that good
I wouldn't recommend a Mac to him/her if theyre going to spend 1,500 on a laptop
when they could be getting better performance for something of that price
when people think of a good laptop, they think of macs, and that to me is wrong

to answer OP: my answer is that they're still overrated because
you pay alot more for something you can get cheaper
