black screen when playing games on laptop

this problem just started 2 days ago. whenever im playing a game the screen will go black or sumtimes a striped pattern. i have already updated all the drivers and tried a system restore. ive been playing this game for almost a year on my laptop with no problems at all.

also, i have cleaned the fans and have a cooling pad under my laptop and a fan by my desk as well. ive been watchin the temperatures to see if it was overheating, but it does not look like it is. any advice?

I would check your laptop manufacturer's website to see if there is a BIOS update that addresses this issue. Doubtful, since you say it's been working fine for a year, but it never hurts to check.
