hi, i just got a new laptop a couple of months ago, but the CD burner wont seem to work for me...i have tried to burn a CD using windows media player and it starts to burn it and when each song gets to like 98% it comes up with an error. i tried to use roxio too but the same thing happened. I've also tried several different types of disks.
i have a Dell Vostro 1720, the drive is a TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L633B
any help would be appreciated

thanks i will try that and report back

hmm i managed to burn a data CD fine, but when i tried to burn it as an audio CD (from some steps i found after a google search since i had no idea how to do it on imgburn) i got an I/O error. it says the device, and under that "interpretation: check condition" then says some more stuff and at the bottom says "interpretation: invalid address for write"

here is the log:

I looked and looked for a solution to your type of problem with the drive and this is what I found on another forum:

NOTE: INVOLVES EDITTING THE REGISTRY!!! IF YOU DON'T TRUST YOURSELF WITH THIS, THEN GET SOMEONE WHO YOU DO TRUST!!!

Thanks a million for this - my new Dell Inspiron DVD Drive as described above just stopped working, kept telling me that there was a problem with the driver in the registry and would not let me update the driver (said I have the latest version)
I followed your registry instructions and the DVD drive is now working perfectly again.
The only thing I can think of is that a Windows update adjusts this registry setting as that is the only thing that has happend recently - anyways Thanks a lot
