Safer to passwordp through webhost settings or with adobe pdf settings?

I have an adobe pdf file on my website I want to password protect.

I have two options I've tried which work well:

1) password protect the pdf directory through my webhost settings.

or

2) set the adobe pdf file document settings to require a password.

My question is, which method is safer from possible hackers?

The reason I ask, is because I noticed there are several videos on youtube explaining how easy it is to hack someones password they've set up through a webhost.

Anyone? Thanks.

I'd think that the webhost would be easier
But either way, try to make your password difficult to guess

I've known of cracking programs that try a list of common words
So as long as it is difficult, your password protection should be fine.

If it was me, I'd trust adobe over my webhost

Or you could go all out and put passwords on both
