Does this CPU match the Motherboard?

Yup, those are fully compatible.

You can use any video card that is PCI Express x16 compatible. I would suggest anything from the Nvidia GTS 250 and up.

Ok now that I know its compataible some things I'm not sure about.

Is this a good motherboard? Does it support "hardcore" gaming, I'm just hesitant to make my purchase, what do I need to know about this motherboard, what are things that are going to backfire? Does it support vista?

Yup, it will do everything you'll need it to. It will support your gaming and is fully compatible with Vista. Asus makes a high quality motherboard. They are very reliable and backed up by a great warranty and customer service.

Ok thanks, but I have one more CPU in my mind its a little better, would this one run with the same motherboard?

Thank you this is turning out great :p

Ok well now I'm looking at a graphics card, but I'm not sure if the memory is compatible with the motherboard, or maybe I read wrong.

Yes, the AMD Phenom II X4 920 AM2+ is compatible with that motherboard. The Asus M4A78-EM supports AMD socket AM2, AM2+, and AM3 CPUs.

The Zotac GTS 250 is a nice card. The memory type on the video card does not need to match what the motherboard supports. The VRAM (video card memory) is used exclusively by the video card's GPU (graphics processing unit) and is independent of the motherboard.

What games are you looking to play? That's not exactly a "hard core" gaming card.

Well RTS Starcraft 2 upon its release, and CounterStirke, COD series, Battlefield series, Operation Flashpoint, and maybe some more detailed RTS games.

Also I'm having some issues with finding a power supply and case to fit the motherboard, the measurements I found for the card are 9.6 inch x 9.6 inch
( 24.4 cm x 24.4 cm ) Ugh, I'm stuck at this point. What card do you recommend for my gaming type?

If you can try and get on aim or yahoo, I really appreciate the help.

Look for any ATX mid tower case and a good quality power supply of at least 500W.

For a better gaming experience, I would suggest something such as the MSI GeForce GTX 260. It's overclocked and runs as fast as the more expensive GTX 280.

That one is a little to pricey, I kinda of overestimated, but I'll look into it, any other cards ?
