i need help!!!

i have a toshiba satellite 4070cds and i am trying to figure out how to fix this problem, when i boot up it gives me the following error: "Ready for bios update. Place the BIOS update diskette in the drive, and press any key when ready to proceed", i have updated the bios to the most recent version but it still comes up every time i restart the computer

the os on the laptop is windows xp home sp1

It sounds like your PC thinks the update didn't complete for some strange reason. I would try reinstalling the BIOS update and see what happens.

i do it every time i boot the computer, i can still get into windows...

can you get your hands on the original bios...? Try flashing it from scratch, although dangerous.

Your computer seems pretty hungry for a nice helping of Basic Input Output System. I would try to boot into safe mode or something if you can. Just give it a try that or load up a bootable CD and boot into windows via it.

See if you can get into the BIOS and see if there are any changes in there you can make...?

nope there is nothing else i can really change...
