I am going to school for Computer Information/Systems. Basically that will be a major teaching me how computers work and teaching me about programing then i picked a networking track so I will be getting my Cisco cert. The major requires you to get a laptop.

So with school starting in about 3 in a half weeks. I was thinking about picking up the laptop now. Although this semester I have no classes needing a laptop I have the money to pick one up.

Any suggestions? my budget is 1000 dollars. I was thinking with going with that custom pc company bfg. I am not really a laptop person so if some one that could possibly get/show me the best deal (doesnt have to be 1000 dollars) on a laptop doesn't have to be name brand that will last me for at least 2 years then please by all means help me out!

Thanks!

P.S. If you have any input or any suggestions please just post it.

before making any decisions you need to go to the schools IT department or to the class instructors and ask them what type of specs you need and go from there. They should tell you exactly what u need to have. Im in 4 computer networking and i just have this dell inspiron which was about $400. didnt need anything special, beats the laptops they were offering at the school for $1400 lol.

Grab a custom one off of iBUYPOWER.
Starting at $879 they are performance BEASTS.

My laptop an HP g60-120US has 3gb of ram vista 32bit and an onboard Nvidia Geforce 8200m and intel AMD chipset with a 2.00ghz dual core Turion. It will even handle some light gaming and all for about $600.

PS-250gb HDD too.^^^

I am not really going to use the laptop for gaming besides star craft probably so I don't need anything spectacular for it. I am mostly going to use it for surfing the net and school work. I just e-mailed the chairperson of the major. I am going for my Cisco cert, I see that you have a cisco avatar.

best of luck my friend!!

haha u play starcraft! nice me 2! we should game sometime!! my recommendation is buy one off iBUYPOWER their computers really are "BEASTS"

This is what I pulled up...

I am going to try and see if I can cut down on price
