I moved to a new apartment, and it seems that the cable that I use to connect the printer to the tower (as oppose to the wall) has been lost in the move, so I need to replace it. The end that connected to the tower was a standard USB 2.0; rectangular in shape.

But the end that goes into the printer is square in shape. I have no idea what that's called; I'm a little reluctant to call it "mini USB" because I think they're still rectangular. Besides, this looks like it has roughly the same surface area as a USB male.

What type of male is that? That way, I can call my local computer store and ask them if they have one.

Yes, that's exactly what it looks like.

For curiosity purposes, which is A and which is B?

There are actually four types of USB plugs. This will show you:

Yes, but if you call it a USB printer cable, then the store "should" know what you mean. Also about 90% of the USB cables stocked on selves are A-B cables.
