vga.sys corrupted

Please don't give me a link, I tried that one already from the other thread. It's deleted.

Anyways, I have a computer I built 2 years ago and it has been running strong and fine. The OS wouldn't work and would only take me to a black screen. I tried reinstalling windows xp and wiping my hard drives, I got the "VGA.SYS is corrupted" message along with a few other errors that told me to either skip them or retry because they couldn't be copied to the hard drive from the CD.

My set up is -

2 WD HDD- Raptor and Caviar
Sapphire Radeon x1900xtx
Win Xp service pack 2

I don't know if you need anymore info than that.

I greatly appreciate all the help.

get a copy of windows. you should be able to get one at a computer repair shop for a couple dollars if you show a product key.
also, select Format using NTFS
DO NOT select Format using NTFS(quick)

Sounds like the windows CD is corrupted - can you get another copy from anywhere to try with a different disk?
