No sound on Windows media player

I downloaded a torrent for "fast and furious 4" and it plays fine on windows media player but there is no sound. I get other sounds just not for this file. I noticed it said .avi on the end of the filename so does that mean it wont play on wmp? should I try quicktime or any other good safe decisions? and whats the best place to downlaod quicktime do you know of...?
