Difference between hard drive and data hard drive

I thought there was only one kind of hard drive... where you store all your permanent data. But as I was customizing my computer online I came across hard drive and then right below that is data hard drive. Whats the dif?
 
I'm guessing you are using an ACER. It's one partitioned HD.
Its the first one that has the OS, etc. The second one is empty for you to load up with whatever you want.

Correct. Usually it's easier to save it all on one drive anyway.

It's smarter to use the "Data" drive (secondary drive) as a backup drive. Get some automated software that backs up your documents on a schedule that works for you.

It's just easier to have documents where they belong, windows shortcuts are already setup for that.
