Ive been wanting to do this for a long time, and now I finally have the money too, I just have to make sure what I really want IS a new PC rather then some Jeep stuff or whatever.

But just tooling around, hows this look:

Total = 1379?? before video card. But I have my 7600GT KO I can reuse untill I can afford something better, as well as an already badass sound card.

If I do get a video card...

This should keep me going for the next 5 years.

Looks good overall! :)

One thing I always ask over is do you really need the blu-ray drive? Yeah it's arguably a more future proof investment but if you won't be watching blu-ray stuff then I'd say it really isn't worth it. You can pick up a perfectly decent OEM DVD burner for £10 these days if you haven't got one knocking around already, and you can easily upgrade when they come down in price. If you're regularly watching blu-ray content then fair play, but the number of people that seem to be getting such drives when they don't actually need them at all recently astounds me!

Thats a great point.

I was looking at it from a future-proof idea because I wont be watching Blu-rays but I have no idea if I will be burning them or not. But maybe I would watch them... I have dual 1080p monitors. IDK!

Oh well... that would be a great money-saving idea and I can upgrade later. I know I wont be burning Blurays for a long time.

Gread idea.. thanks.

Id really like to find a cheaper board then that though ^
This board has every feature you need. I have no idea why everyone goes mad over EVGA boards.

That case is a uATX, you need an ATX case or your motherboard won't fit. The CM RC-690 is a great case.

Thanks for that.

I changed the mobo so it will fit the case.

Thats great advice for a full size case... now I need to figure out which one I want!

I would also get two of these for the case (which is updated) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811998121

and one of these

Updated again.... I think I am going for the do it once do it right approach..... I want to have to touch it again for at least 5 years. (maybe a little bit on the video card depending if I get into gaming again)

TBH, I don't think that's a great strategy, but I suppose it's what you want to do. I would rather purchase something much cheaper with a much better price to performance ratio, and upgrade it bit by bit as the years go by. But then I'm more of a "wheeler dealer", I like to buy and sell parts so I can upgrade with only a small loss.

The 950 is most definitely not worth twice the price of the 920. You can simply overclock the 920 and it will sail past the 950 and even the 965. However, since you're going with the 950, I take it you don't overclock, in which case, I see no reason for a $300 motherboard, the MSI I linked to in my previous post would be fine.

And that GTS 250 isn't a great deal, this most certainly is, and it would walk all over the 250 if you decide to get back into gaming again.

EDIT: And you want SATA disk drives, not IDE. Why two BTW?

Well, you bring up some great points. I was planning on OC'ing the hell of the 950, but im sure the 920 would be fine with that motherboard you posted. Goal = 3.2ghz

Great advice on the video card... and both the disk drives are SATA.

The new-er Evga X58 LE is a pretty good board for the price.

Worship, people are crazy about Evga for 3 reasons:
- Their product has unbelievable abilities in fields like overclocking.
- They warranty their products for life if you register it
- Their support is 24/7.
