Like the title says, is this a good build? I'm very new to building my own PC, so I probably made a lot of obvious mistakes.

Well, here it is:

That's an excellent build! However, you will need DDR3 Dual Channel instead of Triple channel. Only the X58's (the I7's) support Triple Channel at this time.

*A few side notes*
- A soundcard isn't necessary because onboard audio is normally pretty good quality. But if you want it, go for it.
- 1000w is quite a bit and your system will operate fine with ~650-700.

I have always used OCZ for RAM because of their price/reliability/warranty/aggressive performance.

I recommend for RAM:
OCZ Reaper HPC PC3-10666 (4Gb) IF you have proper clearance inside your case.
-OR-
OCZ Fatal1ty Edition PC3-10666 (4Gb)

As for the Power Supply, I would suggest a Corsair TX750 Non-Modular In case you decided to CrossFire in the future, or do a RAID setup.

I would wait for another person to look at this as well before you buy - I'm not much of an AMD specialist.

It's looks pretty good. It's definitely compatible and I'm sure you can get those timings down really far. Well priced, too.

I am a real fan of PCpower and cooling power supplies, been using them for years. Let me suggest a less expensive power supply that is still a little overkill, but will serve you well.

PC Power & Cooling S75QB 750W ATX12V

They make great PSUs. That was actually just on sale for $85, though, so I'm going to suggest this Corsair which is cheaper with the rebate and has free shipping! Either of these would be great choices.

He says he wants the 1000w for future expansions. Fair enough. I'd suggest the Corsair HX1000 but it is quite expensive.

If you want to run Crossfire in the future, go with a 790FX board (Such as this one) as it supports 16x + 16x or even quad CF. The 790GX only supports 8x + 8x.

And the 750W Corsair TX or the 750W PC Power & Cooling would be more than sufficient for anything you want to do. I was running my system (CPU @ 4.4GHz) with an HD 4870 X2 and an HD 4850 in CF overclocked on a 600W perfectly stable.

Like every1 else said the power supply is a bit of a overkill.
I wish I had the money right now to build something like that.:(
