Just bought a new 24" LCD.

idk if it matters,
but i can deff tell a difference between my 22in Westinghouse Montior Vs my 37in Vizio TV as a monitor

something X 1600

it was at max, but i haven't used it in awhile so idr...

but by difference i mean by the depth of the colors an stuff

both of my monitors are set at 1680 x 1050 so there has to be some amount of truth to it
the number may be inflated, but how could we truly know?

Either way, there are many other factors that determine overall picture quality than the contrast ratio.

I wouldn't bat an eyelid at the dynamic contrast, as long as its in the thousands. Why? Because, dynamic contrast sucks, thats why!

Who wants to be viewing something thats pretty bright, for something dark to come on screen, and for the screen to go "oh...its darker. Better dim that back light...*time passes*"
Same for when a scene goes from dark to light, which is even more annoying.

That is all the screen is doing in those situations. Dimming and brightening the back light... not all that clever.

I keep mine locked.

As for LCD's. They do reign supreme, IF you use the monitor at its default res.
Unlike a CRT, it can't physically switch resolutions, so has to stretch pixels to achieve lower amounts, which is a shame.
