hello. ok i have a dell inspiron 1501 laptop. the battery is old and doesn't last that long anymore. i have a newer battery from a compaq presario 1200 laptop. can i take the actual lithium batteries out of that and put them in my laptop for my dell laptop? do they have to be the same mah (milliamp an hour, i think that's what that stands for).

would it work fine or would i need to screw with the bios and stuff? or would it just recognize it as the same battery?

thanks a ton!!!

so do they have to be the same models? would the milliamp per hour be a problem if they aren't the same? thanks.

no milliamp hour is simply how much current they can deliver over the course of an hour.
Basically the higher, the longer your battery will last.
Some cells are different than others.
Do you have experience soldering?

i have very little experience. i could prob solder it fine but it would look like a noob did it.

so it would be fine if i put those batteries in another battery?

No.
I'd say its a bad idea and most likely you will end up with nothing.
Maybe even no laptop.
I've heard some laptops will disable themselves if they detect the wrong cells. Then the manufacturer has to replace a part on the mobo to make it work again.
