Virtual machine question

Stupid question time, when using virtual machines and you put different OS's on your physical machine, I am not physically storing each OS on my PC am I?

Also, if I am and I uninstall MS virtual PC from my physical PC, the HD space is freed up as well, correct. If someone could answer that, I would appreciate it.

thx

By the term "Virtual Machine" I assume it uses a "base operating system" (a largely compressed and simplified windows) to access the internet, then access a server that contains your operating system. My further assumption then would be that no, you are most likely not actually storing the OS on your HDD, but the server's.
If it does, infact, get stored on your HDD, then when you remove it, it will free up whatever HDD space it was using.

Hopefully this post brings the thread to life so someone who is a bit more knowledgeable on this subject can confirm the above.
