wierd prob

when i startup the screen gets fuzzy(blue, black, and white rectangle pattern) at various times and it worked fine yesterday

specs:
MSI p4mam2-v mobo
intel pentium 4
2 gb ddr2 ram
40 gb hard drive
Nvidia geforce 6600 gt

no, lcd monitor, it works fine on my other pc

probably your Graphics Card. Tried updating your drivers?

I switched the graphics card and it works, do u think the graphics card is permanently damaged

probably permanantly. If it still works normally other than that I'd say stick with it, unless it's within a 30 day return policy or a warranty of the sorts then I'd RMA it for replacement.

If it overheated, it's no good anymore...

Since that PC is old, best would be to grab a used video card from some used Pc shop part or a friend. If you have another one, use that other one.

If it still works, it's not completely dead. The fuzzy display is probably because of the card. If you have another one that you want to use, use it. But I would stick with the fuzzy display occasionally if it played games better.
