Plugged Wrong Power Cord Into External Hard Drive

oh really? my hard drive enclosure that i busted had a ac power supply, and thats how i fried it, is by inserting the wrong ac power cord.

Yup. From what I understand, the USB port supplies all the power you need in most cases. Which is why that enclosure didn't come with a power adapter.

hmm, sounds not so convincing because my old enclosure had one, and thats the only way my hard drive would function, but i guess ill see lol

3.5" enclosures require external power, 2.5" do not. at least that's every enclosure I've seen to this date, and that's a LOT.

so wouldnt that mean that my drive is a 3.5 then if it had power before? i hope i didnt get the wrong enclosure

You may want to try a different approach, being that I have four Bold(experimental) children that want to work on computers like daddy. I have found that an "emergency hard drive copy" kit may suit you better. Makes my life much easier when having to clone drives, and testing them.

wow, yeah, that would have been nice, if my enclosure that i have bought doesnt fit i will be buying something like this. that is nice
