media player on vista

hey im having problems with planing videos on my desktop, the videos lag when i skip them, also when i open the videos it takes ages for it to start palying.
Im running vista sp2 quad core 2.66 ghz with 4gb ram.

Ive tried looking to repair or reinstall it but i havent found any information on it.

im using windows media player. it lags when i fast forward the video clips. it also lags when i play videos on windows media center.

iive got other video programs like real player but it doesnt lag when i play the videos so i know that theres something wrong with windows media player, but i cant find a repair or reinstall for it.

yer true but i want media center to work cause i like to sit away from the computer and play songs, tv, music videos with the remote and media centres linked to wmp so its stuffed.

it would have been an easy reinstall if it was on xp...
