Perhaps they were mistaken. That would make things easier, I'll see if I can nail it down for sure. I do know this cam shoots several different levels of HD, and it's only the very highest setting that was causing problems.
I went on Newegg.ca and tried to put together what I thought I needed, from my very limited knowledge. I don't know how to pot my shopping cart but here it is:

Now add in a video card such as an HIS Hightech Radeon HD 4670 IceQ Turbo 512MB and you'll have yourself a nice little HD video editing machine.

Oops, can't believe I forgot to add a video card. Did I forget anything else?Are all these parts compatible with each other? I basically just looked for stuff that had good reviews and looked liked it had good specs. For the price it comes out at, I think it seems like a better machine than I could buy for a similar price.

I would probably say you'd need a DVD Burner, and would recommend going with Sata as IDE would be a slower process on it.

Definitely need a dvd burner, didn't realize I forgot that too. Sata is a brand? I'll check them out. Is there different burners for HD, or do they all do the same thing? Also, I see lots of external dvd burners. Any advantage either way?

a little late to the discussion but build your own!

it's not that hard at all. do some Google searches and watch some You-Tube videos and you will be fine. plus all the parts come with instruction manuals.

then you get to see that look on people's faces when you tell them you built your own computer!

"wha how... so you BUILT IT , woah how long did it take? you must me amazing with computers." heheheh

just be sure that when you tell them it was about half price as the ones at the store and they ask if you would build one for them, you act like it's a really big job too
