Hi, i wanna burn windows 7 onto a disk, so once i build my pc i can use it for an operating system for the time being, what would i need to be able to burn windows 7 onto a disk? how much big of a disk do i need? and is do i require some sort of program to transfer it onto a disk or what?

tnx alot in advance

The Windows 7 ISO file needs one DVD. You can use a free program such as ImgBurn to write or "burn" the image to the DVD. Oh yea, you'll need a DVD writer too. A CD burner wont do it.

so if i downlaod the windows 7 and burn it straight away onto a dvd disk using ImgBurn, would i need to do anything else?

no, u get the product key from the windows 7 website and ounce everything is installed right click on computer and properties and there should be an option to activate it

Actually there are a few other methods that can be added here as well. Three I came across on how to use a usb flash or pen drive for installation of 7 can be looked over at the links here.

digg has the other one at http://digg.com/microsoft/How_to_Create_a_Windows_7_Installation_USB_Key

A third with an interesting look for the usb flash drive was found at http://www.feloos.com/?p=2841

PC World has one for installing 7 from an external hard drive. http://www.pcworld.com/article/165159/install_windows_7_from_an_external_hard_drive.html?tk=rss_main

As for activating 7 you simply use the same method as seen for XP or Vista. The fast click on the system icon in the Control Panel will display whether you are activated or not with the link seen with "Windows will automatically be activated in 3 days". That's seen in the "View basic information about your computer" screen.

ermmm i don get it, so when i boot up using the disk will i have to put in a CD Key or does it skip that part and allow you to make a user account and login straight away
