a few questions about raid: to use RAID with your hdd do they have to have the same rpm?
what is raid 0+1 how is it different from raid 0 and raid 1?
what is raid 10 couldnt find any information that i understood on the net
what is raid 5
is there a type of raid that just leaves your hdd alone?
thanx

Raid 0+1 is a combination of, you guessed it, 0 and 1. It stripes the hard drives for performance and mirrors them for redundancy. I believe you need at least 3 hard drives to do this.

Raid 10 is nothing but 0+1. It's also known as 10.

Raid 5 combines 3 disks so that one can never lose any information.

You can put any two disks in RAID. But, the higher rated HDD will match the lowest and the highest capacity drive will match the lower one.

is there a type of raid that just leaves the hdd alone so they can both operate at there highest capabilites?
also do you have to use raid?
thanx

No. You can just plug 2 hard drives in. They will be completely independent of each other.
