My first build: suggestions/problems?

Hi, so this is my first build for reasonably high-end gaming pc. My budget is £1000-£1500, however I'm also getting a laptop so any money I save here would be great.

I've put together a build but I don't know whether it's any good, or whether the parts are even compatible. It would be a great help if you guys could check it out and give me suggestions or point out any problems. It would be great if any new parts/suggestions could come from www.scan.co.uk, as that's where I'm getting my other stuff. Thanks!

Hmm. . . You do have a case listed. It's the first item in your post.

I'm curious, why two hard drives instead of one large one?

you could use the antec 1200, antec p180/p182, or cooler master cosmos 1000 for ur build (i couldnt find it on that site, but i know u could find it elsewhere)

Just realised case is in list, so will remove it (no longer supplied by that shop). If I decide to change shops for the case, can anyone suggest a reputable shop in the UK that does delivery?

Ok so it looks like I'm getting this build today or tomorrow. What OS would you suggest? My current machine, which sucks, is using XP. I have no personal preferences other than it can play games. Vista obviously has more problems than XP, but it can use all the RAM I have, whereas XP can't. I would have no problems switching to Linux, as long as it's pretty straight forward and I can play any game I want.

Please do NOT start a massive OS flamewar, I just want to know what would go the best with my build and needs.
