I want a new pc for mainly gaming. Will this pc play most games smoothly?

that's a good gaming rig, but if your not on a tight budget you could get a X3 or X4 AMD CPU
 
That's a nice rig. It has a good processor, plenty of memory and a fast video card. It should be able to handle most anything you throw at it. :D

Stick with the first one. The Phenom II X3 720 is a nice CPU, but you will be giving up a bit of performance with the GTS 250 video card. If it's much more expensive, it's not worth the extra cost.
