File system question.

I know most Windows systems are running on NTFS, so I was curious about what Mac and Linux normally run on by default. I have an external hard drive formatted in NTFS and wanted to know if a Mac or a Linux system would recognize it.

The standard filesystem used by Linux at the moment is Ext3, but different people use different systems (some have moved on to Ext4, for example, whereas I use ReiserFS). Mac uses, I think, something called HFS (though a Mac-user would need to confirm this for me).

A Linux box will recognise, read-from and write to an NTFS drive. I do it all the time :)
