So..

It all started 2 months ago

in everygame i play

meaning like
EVERY game.
Low graphic to High Graphical games.

my fps would be up HIGH for like 30 seconds and it would go down to 2 FPS and stay like that for 10 ~ 15 seconds and come back up to its normal FPS.

so i checked my windows task manager when i was playing
( it didn't happen like this before )

what was happening is

CPU of every program i had opened
which was

War Rock
Xfire
Ventrilo
exlorer.exe

those CPU would go up like 00 ~ 10 or higher

any solution ?

I have

Windows XP

AMD Athlon 64 X2
Dual Core processor 5000+
2.61 Ghz, 2 GB RAM

ATI Radeon HD4650

500W

HELP !!

SOLUTIONS !

THANKS !

Having Firefox open in the background while gaming slows down my FPS drastically. Please close it when you are gaming.

Firefox uses up alot of CPU. I would also turn the priority down on it by right clicking its task in taskmgr. i have mine on low. it still works ok.

Also using a 64 bit Operating System is much better. You get much better performance from a 64 bit Operating System. it is Optimised better for multi-core.

ok, he didnt say he was running firefox

what you can do is make sure your drivers are updated to the newest versions

also, try to defrag your computer - i suggest smart defrag

My best guess is that it's a problem with Powerplay. Your GPU is constantly changing between 2D and 3D clocks. Open GPU-Z, and click on the "Sensor" tab, this should display many settings in graphs, including the core and memory clocks. Make sure you check "Continue refreshing this screen..." Next, start a 3D app, play for a while. Then exit and take a look at the core and memory clock graphs.

Before

Core : 165.0 Mhz
Memory : 249.8 Mhz

After turning 3D application

Core : 600 Mhz
Memory : 499.5Mhz
