I'm not sure how one would accidentally turn it on and off... you've got to go in and select the option manually through a series of clicks.

On my home network, I have two Vista computers and an XP computer on there. I've enabled "network discovery" on all of them and each computer can see both the XP and the two Vista computers.

Perhaps the Vista has network discovery enabled?

Could the vista computer be picking up another network in the neighborhood? It hasn't happened again but it does have us curious.
