does anybody know a good combination of ati cards that are compatible with crossfire. price isnt an issue

Ummm....
how much money R U talkin?
lower budget, the 4830 is nice
mid budget, 4850 or 4870
high end, go with 4890

Generally, sapphire makes the best ATI cards IMO, but anything but like sparkle is good.

so you don't think Sparkle makes good ATI cards huh...? good luck finding one...

well i'm just now looking at AMD's website as well as newegg.com and it looks like the 4870 are better especially the x2. The 4890 are loud and have glitches. here's what i'm think rite now http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102826
ati radeon HD 4870
and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102768 ati radeon 4870 X2 as a combination

Now before you go out purchasing a Graphics card though what size monitor do you use and what is its native resolution?

If you are looking at getting an x2 you can check out some of the benchmarks being posted by Worshipme..:D:D

What PSU and MOBO do you have?

we need to know if you can even run a crossfire setup

i'm just picking out the parts i need to build a computer. I think i'm going to get two ati radeon 4890 gpu's.
What do the graphics cards i get have to do with the monitor?

The resolution you run at. The bigger the screen, the more power you need.

I am using a 17 inch screen which runs at 1280 by 1024. a 4850 will be good for that

a 19 inch will be 1440 by 900 a 4850 will actually still be good for that

20-22 usually 1650 1050 you might think about a 4870 or Xfire 4830's or 4850's

and from there it is 1920 1080 you want the best out there which is like 2 4890's

You can get any card(s) you want at any resolution, but it will result in something called a bottleneck where your card can't produce it's full potential.

thanks do you know if ati is going to come out with any new cards over the summer, thats when i'm going to start ordering parts
