What do you like in a website? Obviously you all love to share your opinions and talk with others..

But what brings your attention to a site? What do you do on websites?
If you post please also state your opinion on Social Networking websites.
What do you like about certain ones? What do you not like about some?
What would change your mind about the ones you don't like?

I ask all this mainly for research, I'm in the middle of a project and I am debating letting it die. I honestly don't want to but it is very time consuming.

What I am thinking of doing is maybe making it open source..

I read news on websites, look at porn and post in forums. I love facebook, it's easy to keep in touch with people you know. I hate informative websites that have flash everywhere, I like simplicity and functionality. I also hate popups.

I absolutely hate Flash widgets on websites. Especially when they use them in advertisements.

This may be a little torturous lol but can you show me an example?

I am taking EVERYONE'S opinion If I continue with this then I may finish up coding and have you guys check out the raw stuff and tell me what you think.

Not necessarily advertisements, but introductions, movies, and anything else that's unnecessary to how a webpage operates.

I like clean, professional designs. I hate seeing ads on websites and I equally hate pop-ups! I usually read information on sites, listen to music, or view information (pictures, etc.).

I have no problem with Facebook and MySpace. I actually have both... I like myspace because it's easier to find groups of people in a certain location around a certain age. That makes me sound like a stalker, but it's actually useful because I play in a band (and our band is on myspace) so it's easier to talk to "local" people that could come to a show or whatever. I also like myspace music - very nice and useful for the most part.

I rarely get on my facebook because it kinda of seems impersonal to me in some ways... don't ask me why, haha. I occasionally send messages from there, but I'm rarely on there. I might spend more time on FB if they made it a little more customizable and friendly. I also hate that both sites are starting in with the applications and stuff... very annoying.

As long as a site is clean, easy to navigate, and displays the information efficiently, I don't mind spending time on it. :]
