A 10% jump in a declining economy with "overpriced" hardware with competition from a super company?

You put overpriced in quotes. are you saying apple does not have overpriced hardware?
That is an opinion. I love the quality and the service Apple provides. Even though it's more than a similarly configured system, I would take it for the quality and the service I'm assured to get. I like the Leopard OS. It's rock stable and can handle a lot of stress with minimum hardware dependence.

The quailty and service? Could you expand on that and what they really provide thats superior to a pc?
Mac's all come from one company. Try calling Apple tech support and then try some other company. You'll know the difference in quality.
