CD Drive not opening

my CD drive will not open, i really don't know what to try. I've already tried pushing a paperclip into the hole in the front. When i just press the button it just makes a really weird computer noise. I've also tried changing the cables. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance

Is the light on the front of the drive on? Is it recognized properly in the BIOS and Device Manager?

1. Yes it turns on when i try to open it 2. It probably is, it just started not opening a few days ago.

If the filter trick didn't help, you've tried different cables. . .

Is the data cable connected correctly? Sometimes they are easy to get crosed up since many CDROMs don't have keyed connectors.

Actually I think there might be something physically blocking it because it sounds like something is pushing against another thing or something of that sort.

Is there a cd in it?

If it doesn't open when you push a paperclip in the hole chances are there is something physically wrong with the drive.
