well i took some old car speakers i bought that didnt fit... and here we go..now part of my Surround sound system at home :)

I don't suggest using car speakers anywhere else besides the car. They designed for a compact and enclosed area, not something open like a typical house room. I'd be cautioned powering those with your receiver, unless you know the exact specifications of those speakers.
 
Not a bad idea.

Your best bet is to re house them in a ported enclosure that works with the larger room and looks better than the current one.

And I reckon the speakers are rated at 4 ohms - a load that your receiver should be able to deal with.

Give us the speaker and receiver specs.
 
actually, sounds alot better than the speakers that came with the receiver -_- and they are 4ohms
