Here's the deal. I was burning over 1,000 pictures from my digital camera that I uploaded to PS7 (in retrospect, I should have used a program like Nero or something to do this... admittedly I wasn't really thinking). One day I decided just to coast through this and burn away. The photos were burning on a 4.7 GB DVD. All was fine until I got an error message that some hardware had been damaged beyond recovery. I stopped soon after (only had 10 more photos to go, and the photo burning was still working--admittedly dumb #2 thing to do) and wondered what had been affected. Launched several programs and applications to see what might have been affected, and figured out it was the motherboard's integrated sound since sound was fading in and out on my DVD playback of movies. Thought I just needed to give the burner a rest from all those photos burning. Silence persisted on DVD movie playback days later. Talked to people at work and they concurred it was probably the motherboard's sound. The computer seems to freeze up a bit more too since then.
Bottom line, here's the motherboard I have which got affected:

And here's the rest of my system:

This is a motherboard I'm considering (and I believe it has integrated sound):

I know it can sound ridiculous to buy another board when your sound dies, but my case has a front post to audio plug which is SUPER CONVENIENT! Plus, a sound card I bought (the guy sold me some sub-par sound card for $25 that sucks) has sound, but is low volume at max and pathetic. My integrated sound before from my front port was superior. Regardless of buying a better sound card, I'd miss the use of the front audio port. Does the motherboard just above seem to fit the bill, or do people have better recommendations?
Also, I run about 4 or 5 programs and applications at once, so I think more RAM might be needed? What about an increased wattage of power supply? 800W? Ordinarily I like to figure these things out so as not to bother others, but I'd appreciate some feedback on this one.
Thanks.
