Why dont you just wait for the GT300 or the RV870 core? Both will have Directx 11 support, 40nm processing, and maybe dual-core (Not an X2. just two cores on one die)

The internetz are making these cards sound like they will change the industry and they will probably future proof the hell outta your system Grant

That's plenty of time for prices to drop and new technologies to be released. Wait until you actually have to buy it to make the decision. Since money is not an issue, you do not have to really allocate an amount.
