id like to keep the motherboard around 100 or below as my budget for the entire PC is roughly 950 dollars.

but I would be willing to spend a bit more if that motherboard truly is worth it

also, nvidia is my type of GPU so how does the 260 core 216 look?

The 260 C216 is an excellent card! And should run very well on a native res of 1440x900. Since you're looking for Intel, why not go for a Core2Duo E8400 @ 3.0? It's well priced and still VERY capable and performs just as well as a Q6600 in *most* games that are out. For a motherboard...hmm. I'll edit this post when I find a suitable board based on a P45 chipset. Like most say, Asus normally leads the race in reliability for Intel chipset based systems.

To start, I yes I know the 260 is the SSC version...Others would argue you could OC it yourself and save 5 dollars? cmon. Besides, there's nothing better than knowing you can add another mnemonic device to the name of your card in your sig. Just say it: SSC. Anyways: the CPU cooler is really up to you depending on how much you want to spend and how much you plan to do with your CPU. Some would say run the stock provided by Intel, but I stay away from them even when I don't OC. The colder it runs, the longer it lasts. You'll also need a case and case fans. I suggest a CM-690 because it's an all around great design. NZXT makes good cases, so does Lian-Li, CoolerMaster, Antec. All of them. Shop around - Look for airflow, looks, windowed or not, included fans, F-I/O buses, etc...Furthermore, look at price. Some FT's can cost upwards of 200 dollars. A midtower is almost always suitable but it depends on user-preference. My last note is yes, the PSU does cost more and alot of you will suggest the OCZ gameXstream 600w. OCZ makes good stuff, trust me; I love their RAM. But their PSU's use too many 12v's and not enough transformers.
