IS this a good idea?

Yea the HSF's posted are pretty much some of the best out there.

all you have to do is get some rubbing alcohol and rub that stuff right off with either a cotten ball or q tip

You will probably need to buy some new Thermal Compound if you buy a new HSF unless you get the Sunbeam Mx-2 is reccomended

nice digg Cabbs ;)

sucks its just for socket 1366 right now though : /

Does that sunbeam come with grease or a thermal pad?
i always figured grease to work better, or am i wrong?

The Sunbeam comes with TX-2 thermal paste.

Most all aftermarket coolers include thermal paste that is either pre-applied or in a small tube.

Cleaning and re-applying thermal paste is fairly straightforward. Here are some good instructions: Arctic Silver 5 Instructions

It's not out yet, I doubt Thermalright is dumb enough to release a budget cooler for an enthusiast socket only.

Thanks to you all over the past couple months :)
