Microsoft Outlook2007 question

Hello, I have outlook 2007 setup for a hotmail account. it works fine but the problem is that i always have to REFRESH manually to be able to see new email.
This is compared to an exchange account with my university email that always notifies me of new email automatically. What is the difference and how can i change the hotmail account so it can notify me right away

under account options you should see something that says check for mail and you could change the time to check more frequently.
