i have just ordered a COOLER MASTER 690 case and will be putting a CORE i7 920 and ASUS P6T v2 mobo in it.

since the cpu fans i have seen on newegg are SUPER HUGE i'm wondering if anyone can recommend a cpu fan that will fit into the rig i'm building???

its sort of hard to know this unless i goto the store and buy a heap of fans and try each one. read a lot of people going through this and having to return stuff to the store or have had to mod their case and am hoping to learn from others misadventures

have so far had my eye on the dark knight one ...

and the more expensive noctua...

would prefer to stick in the price range of the dark knight model.
will be OVERCLOCKING the i7 920 for sure too:hap2:

and oh yeah, will those LGA775 fans fight the LGA 1366 sockets or is a conversion kit needed???

I recommend you go with the Xigmatek. The Dark Knight is out of stock so just go with the standard HDT-S1283, they are pretty much identical.
The RC-690 is what you'd call a very large mid-tower case. It should have room for even the largest coolers and the Xig. HDT-S1283 is fairly compact.
My case is fairly narrow yet I have lots of room for a TRUE (larger than the Xig.)

You will need this conversion kit. or this for the HDT-S1284.

EDIT: Since the i7's IHS is much bigger than an LGA775 CPU's, it would definitely benefit from the four heatpipes, of the HDT-S1284.

fyi the HDT-S1283 fits and you can close the case too

it cuts it kinda close though
