Please do not turn this into an argument, or mods will close this thread, which wouldn't be fair on the OP.

Play nicely children ^^

Uh, how is this an argument? If you think this is an argument, we know you haven't been here long. Don't post with posts that don't help the OP in any way.

The Core 216 almost matches the 280 in FPS and beats the 4870 1GB in the majority of tests. I know what I'm talking about.

The two sites I keep an eye on are Guru3D and Anandtech. Guru3D has the 216 winning the majority, Anandtech has the HD 4870 1GB winning the majority. From where I'm standing they're pretty much equal. This is kind of like the 9800GTX+ vs HD 4850 debate, it's going nowhere.

I was talking about spec and worshipme actually.. it seemed a little hairy than necessary to me, so don't pop at me over it .. sheesshh

If you are looking at getting the 4890 I'm sure you wont be disappointed but there isn't really alot of benchmarks for it yet since it just was released. Not many people have it yet and it hasn't really been reviewed much. So it is hard to tell how much better it is than the 4870 right now but its really not that much more expensive.

But If you are looking at getting one of the others suggested as was stated both the 4870 and the GTX 260 core 216 perform VERY similarly so basically it comes down to a few other things.

1. Which one is cheaper
2. Do you plan on either running SLI or Crossfire with whichever one you chose
3. Does your Motherboard support which ever one if you answered yes to #2

exactly, if your going to buy a 4890, please dont be a noob and buy it, buy the 4870
The HIS 4890 1gb is actually cheaper with MIR than the HIS 4870 1gb right now...:D:D:D But the 260 Core 216 is DIRT cheap also... Tough Choice and kinda hard to pass up at under 170 bucks IMO...

Yes the 4870's are good cards but to be honest, this GTX Core 216 is alot more powerful and as other people will say (including myself) that the nvidia drivers are much better.

There is a better choice. Their drivers aren't necassarily "better." They are just more refined. It takes ATI a while to catch up.

why did you state that it was more powerful than a 4870? the gtx 216 isnt...

It's not the "GTX 216," it's the GTX 260 Core 216.

I noticed that. Only Anandtech had the 4870 winning out of the 8 reviews I saw. I'll take that as a hint, haha.

Sorry. :D

Rohan is a strong supporter of the core 216 man so he knows a lot, should listen to him

Gracias! I just like the most bang for my buck.

To the OP, get this Core 216.
