They cleaim that they cant and they wont ? I do partly believe the claim of they cant seeing as the record labels and others seem to think the owners had been making millions off dollars off this venture when in reality i dont think they where making that much if anything
and what do you mean they got what they deserved ? in my eyes they should not have been found guilty of what they where charged with

Because if you run a website focused on piracy you should expect to get caught

Personally I think Pirate Bay haven't done anything illegal and I think the "punishment" they recieved is just the law using Pirate Bay to show "others" that they won't take light of the matter. What "matter" exactly?

Sharing what I have with others? Is the law going to sue me if I buy a PS3 game and share it with my mates? The law wouldn't come near me.

The service that Pirate Bay provide has been going on for donkeys years before the internet was invented!

if there was a better rental/demo system in place for pc software and movies, pirate bay wouldnt really have a purpose for half the people that use it..

Yea. Hi stuff is always good (and he never has bad movies I think). The worst part about being him though is he is famous, but he can't accept his fame or he will get caught.

Last year the site went down for like 2 months because the courts almost got them. I'm shocked this is still going on...

that wasnt anything to do with the court case

they where raided in 2006 and it has taken this long for the evidence collected in that raid to be brought to court and then 9 days for the trial earlier this year and another few months to wait for the verdict
in the mean time they where still running the site as they have been doing since 2004

I don't see Youtube being shut down for hosting videos of copyrighted material. Even though they are banning it, it isn't completely gone. I want to see the government try to shut down illegal porn over the internet. I'm sure that's a way bigger issue than this.

i dont see torrenting shutting down anytime soon, in fact i think 256bit AES encryption is the next thing to be implemented into torrenting servers, pirate bay founders are looking into it
