My cousins computer CMOS battery said it was low. We bought a new one. That one said it was low. We put a jumper in the correct position. We are trying to do a fresh install of Vista now and it can't find my harddrive. try and load up my OS, all i get is

chassis intruded
Fatal Error-system halted

all i want to do is fix this computer

although he can get on the internet by using his mobo express gate

his mobo is

yea by switching it from 1,2 to 2,3 for 10 seconds when it was off. then putting it back to 1,2. if i turn it on with 2,3 it doesn't even show on the monitor or it saus the cmos battery is dead

Reset the CMOS and BIOS. If you can get into the BIOS, find the PC health section and you can disable the warning there.

i can't get into the bios the damn error blocks me from doing anything.

im on the internet using the express gate, but i can't go into the OS or Bios

Recheck all the jumpers on the motherboard and make sure they are in the correct positions according to the motherboard manual.

When you cleared the CMOS, did you disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet before doing so?

it only has one jumper though they are in the correct positions

and yea the power cord was out

That's weird that you're getting a chassis intrusion error. Check make sure that you didn't accidentally connect a fan to a wrong header.
