Hi,

Well me and my friend are in a little debate on what CPU is better, E8400 at 3.6Ghz(oced) or the Quad Q6700 at 2.66Ghz(stock). I say the Q6700 even though it is not oced but what do u guys think ?

CPU Information:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.6Ghz

http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=33910

Vantage Score: 7296 (something cant be right with that score?)

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 @ 2.66Ghz

http://ark.intel.com/cpu.aspx?groupId=30790

Vantage Score: 35465

It depends on what you're doing with it. For gaming, the duo would be amazing. For editing, the quad takes it all the way. If you're just a benchmarker, quad is the way to go.

Wait 6 months...

For gaming it will be the quad. no matter what speed that duo is at

And in six months, get an i7.

why would u want to do that ? in about 7-10 months im sure their will be a new line of cpu's. I7 came out a few months ago and new cpu's come out usually around the 12 month(1 year) period. It wont be that much expensive either because when the i7's first came out my Q6700 was still about $260 and the i7 920 was $290-$300. So if your going to wait 7 months for an i7, mind aswell just drop the i7 and get the new cpu that will be getting released
