some general HW questions

can i put a 1gb stick in DIMM1 and then put my 2x 256 sticks in DIMM 3&4?
My motherboard has 2 sata plugs, but I dont see and metal connectors...like its all plastic in there it looks like...are these mock SATA ports to mark where some could be installed or what?

You should try running the 1GB in DIMM1, then putting the two 256MB modules in DIMMs 2 and 4 to keep them on the same channel.

The contacts in SATA connectors are very small. I'm sure they are in there. I don't know of any motherboards that put in "mock" connectors. Either the motherboard has the connectors, or not.

running in dual channel right now in 1&2... but if i were to get a 1gb stick I would put it in dimm1, and a 256 in #2 and #4 slots?

i agree "mock" sata ports would be stuuupid, but you never know.

Ahh, OK. Yours run in dual channel in 1 and 2. Then you should run them as you originally posted.
