I made recovery DVD's for my HP laptop when I first got it, it also has a recovery partition. Do you guys think I should axe the recovery partition so I can use it to dual boot W7?

I would assume the recovery DVD's have the same information as the recovery partition.

Your DVD backup (If Recent) should be ok.

If your assumptions are correct, then do it!

I'd make a backup of your recovery disks, too.... But that's just me
