Hello All,

Lots of good info on this forum so I thought I would go ahead and join.:D

A question I have is on my Dell computer that is a couple years old with windows XP. When I bought the computer new it did not have a DVD-ROM, so I bought a HP sata 22x. Of course I had to buy an adapter to use the Sata cables to fit the IDE motherboard. I plugged everything in and the computer doesn't recognized the new drive. Is there something I'm not doing right? The new drive came with a drivers CD, but when I insert the disk the drive runs for a few seconds but nothing.

adapters like that are always risky. I never have luck with them. Go over the instructions for your adapter again and make sure it's set up right/doesn't need drivers. Then make sure all the cables are connected tightly.
