On topic, I would add RAM, defrag the HD, maybe run disk cleanup etc. I use Tune Up utilities and that works great, but its not free. CCleaner, or Glary's Utilities work really well to speed things up like defraging the registry, optimizing your PC settings and such. Make Windows appearance more performance rated then appearance.

Most people find a fresh module in that spare RAM bank is the easiest way to gain speed. Especially on older PCs

But since you did ask for software i'd suggest a clean up with CCleaner and an Auslogics Defrag

I also love how it's for PC's only, yet half to two thirds of the computers shown are Macs.
