RAM problems

I have a 97 Gateway and i got some ram i put in the ram it works but when it gets to the windows 98 start page it stops and doesent do anything could someone please help me.

Did you try it with each stick individually to see if any of them are bad?

ya it seems that 2 might be bad but everytime i put one more in and it doesent work then i take them out and start up the computer and it said decrease in RAM i dont know if the work or not.

Run memtest 86 and it will tell you if you have any bad ram. If one of them is bad, I can look for another one for you.

Maybe Windows 98 or your mobo can't handle the amount of ram you have. Try updating to xp and see if that fixes ur problem. If it doesn't its still worth the money!

What memory are trying to install? Please list brand, amount and speed.
