Will the i7 920 recognize anything above 1086 mhz concerning ram? I'm thinking of just sticking with 1333mhz. Will the processor have any trouble running with 1333mhz? What I am thinking is it won't be a problem in terms of running, it may not utilize it, but I think it will run. It will utilize if overclocking the bus speed however.

Are my thoughts correct?

Uhm, it is the mobo that recognizes RAM. You don't really have to worry about the 920 not recognizing faster RAM. Most high performance RAM these days caters to the i7 family.

If you are talking about about overclocking then here are some numbers for you:

1600MHz ram x2 = "3200/16=200" can use 200bclk max "21x200=4200mhz"

1866MHz ram x2 = "3732/16=233" can use 233bclk max "21x233= all the way up to 4893mhz"

I stand corrected. You should have no problem with 1333mhz ram though AFAIK.

I believe the "limiting" factor with the i7 concerning RAM is that the RAM will run at the same speed as the CPU. Since if the Core i7 runs on a 1333MHz bus, that's where the memory will run, unless of course, you overclock it.

1366MHz bus actually.
