It's been out for a while. A bunch of guys got Crysis running at DirectX 10 on XP. There a file you can download that enables it for any game.

I loved DirectX 10. It's absolutely stunning. It was the only reason I moved towards Vista.

i feel that i bought vista supporting Microsoft and now because it isnt as successful as they'd like windows 7 is coming out and im forced to pay more money so soon to stay updated
so ill be getting it for "free"

actually you are wrong, i work as tech for a few companies and they are all now switching over to vista...windows 7 isnt coming out till 2010 either. They cant make it support dx10, because when xp came out ONLY dx9 was out..dx10 is hardware based, and the operating system would have to be rewritten for that compatibility. You wanna take the time to do that?

ah the companies have wasted there money then, whats the point in buying vista for loads of computers when windows 7 is out next year, the os doesnt have to be rewritten coz vista still uses the same architect as xp, but the new windows 7 doesnt!

It's not truly enabled. They've just used a lot of tweaks to emulate it to a degree with DX9. DX10 is impossible with XP.

yeh i would think thats true, its only software, u could say dx7/8/9/10 is like a driver, eg like NVIDIA PhysX that never used 2 be in with an NVIDIA driver update but now it is, but on all NVIDIA PhysX cards.
so i dont no why ppl r saying that xp will not work with dx10 when it prob will if it was written prop
